Geelong company makes million dollar step into Asia
FE Technologies Pty Ltd has won a $1 million dollar contract to introduce its state of the art Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to the Asian library market.
The contract for Brunei’s Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Library was won in partnership with FE Technologies’ Asian partners; Com-Line Systems SDN BHD (Malaysia) and ITIS Wescot Technology SDN BHD (Brunei).
Based on its success at more than 170 sites across Australia and New Zealand, and its suite of easy to use library RFID products FE Technologies was chosen above heavy competition from large multinational suppliers.
The overall library project, valued at over five million dollars, covers the Library Management System (LMS), digitalisation services, cataloguing, supporting equipment as well as the provision of FE Technologies’ renowned RFID equipment.
Developed in Australia, the innovative technology uses radio waves to enhance the efficiency of check-outs and returns.
In Brunei’s Dewan Bahasa Dan Pustaka Library, RFID will replace the applied labour of manual circulation with easy to use self-loan stations.
RFID enhances overall productivity by allowing staff to focus on customer service enquiries and promoting library use, rather than spending time on manual checkouts.
The Integrated Library Information System also ensures data is more readily accessible to library patrons and advising staff.
Financial assistance provided through the State Government’s First Exporter Scheme highlights the importance of FE Technologies new Asian partnership.
